Each year, the employees of Region 8 ESC fund a scholarship for the graduating seniors of fellow employees.  Money is raised throughout the year in the form of recycling programs, special days of wearing jeans with spirit shirts, luncheons and other events.  The employees give generously to support this investment in the future of these young men and women.

This year we were honored to fund three scholarships.   One recipient is a student at Mt. Pleasant High School that is in a work program here at the ESC.   Mr. Harvey Hohenberger, Executive Director for Region 8 ESC awarded the scholarships at our annual employee picnic held at Heritage Park in Mt. Pleasant on May 28.   Let us introduce you to these bright young people!

Christian Ladd, son of Stephen and Dana Ladd.  Dana is a Digital Media Specialist at the ESC and Stephen is a coach for Mt. Vernon HS.

Christian is a graduate of Mt. Vernon High School and will be attending Texas A & M University.  He plans to be a teacher and a coach.

Kayla Phillips, daughter of Micheal and Karen Phillips.  Karen is a Science Coordinator for Region 8 ESC. 

Kayla is a graduate of Sulphur Springs High School. She will attend Tarleton State University to pursue a career in education.  She plans to teach mathematics and coach basketball.

Luis Vargas, son Mr. and Mrs. Luis A. Vargas, Sr. is a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. 

Luis has been working for the ESC this spring after school.  He plans to continue working with us and at Mt. Pleasant High school and perhaps take some college math classes since he loves math.  He enjoys playing soccer and running track.
